WebHighly recommend reading through the story—but enjoy the game at your own pace. Maybe fast forward through cutscenes when you get the gist of what’s going on. There is absolutely no rush to get to max level (unlike some other mmos). Your friend should realize they can play with you...at YOUR level, at whatever stage of the story you’re at. WebMy eyesight isn't very good and I end up skipping a lot of quest text. There is one for World Of Warcraft so I was hoping there was one for FFxiv. Third-party launcher XIVLauncher includes a text-to-speech plugin you can set up for NPC dialogue, although it's a little clunky. That worked perfectly for me, Thank you so much.

On top of that, the quality of storytelling is way better, and the NPCs have complex personalities, and you actually get attached to them and get the feels when bad things happen to them.
