It shows the icon and name of the gear apparently, haven't used it myself as I see no need. WebFirst, a blue bar will appear above your head to indicate that you have a prayer active. Also, you will notice a light-blue line zipping across your Quick-Prayer button and across the blue indicator that appears over your character. That little blue line is the game tick indicator.
